A.N.F.E. FREMANTLE
(Associazione Nazionale Famiglie degli Emigrati)
44 Hale St, Beaconsfield 6162 Western Australia
A.N.F.E. FREMANTLE is an Italian-Australian migrant family association with cultural and social objectives. The Fremantle Branch was formed in June 1987, largely through the interest and efforts of some of our senior Italian-Australians, and was incorporated in 1988.
We are a community association, whose activities are chiefly targeted at the aged and migrant women. In spite of its relatively short existence, our association has well over 600 financial members. Our activities include excursions within the state, interstate and overseas, dinner-dances, visits to theatres, cinemas and other cultural and religious events, bingo evenings, seminars and film nights, and the annual Christmas Luncheon, which is usually held in November/ December. Two years ago we compiled the ANFE Photographic Exhibition (Uno sguardo indietro al passato/ Glimpses of past memories), which consists of 100 photographs. The Exhibition was on display at the WA Museum Fremantle in 2002.
The ANFE Fremantle not only fulfils a much-needed social and cultural function amongst the Italian-Australian community in Fremantle, but also encourages access to relevant information for our senior citizens, who are sometimes cut off from mainstream events.
All our activities are very well supported, indicating that ANFE plays a significant role in the life of the Fremantle Italian-Australian community.
